Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar evaluated the current situation in Turkey's energy, mining, and industrial policies and made important statements during his speech at the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry Assembly Meeting.

Annual 100-Ton Target in Gold Production

Minister Alparslan Bayraktar stated that they must bring Turkey's 10,000 tons of gold reserves underground into the economy as quickly as possible. Drawing attention to the high volume of gold imports, Bayraktar expressed that the country needs to reach a position where it produces 100 tons of gold annually as soon as possible.

Increasing Oil Production in Gabar

Providing information about the oil production in the Gabar region, Minister Bayraktar said that the production level has reached around 83 to 84 thousand barrels per day. Bayraktar emphasized that in a world where energy supply security is difficult, this domestic production carries great strategic significance.

Latest Status at Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant

Touching upon the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant projection, Bayraktar announced that Turkey will join the ranks of countries generating electricity from nuclear energy within the next few months. It was noted that a localization rate of approximately 50 to 55 percent has been achieved during the construction process of the plant.

Year 2035 and Foreign Dependency

Stating that it is essential for Turkey to reduce its foreign dependency in the field of energy, Minister Bayraktar expressed that the year 2035 will be a critical and turning-point date in the country's energy policies in line with this target.
