Nine People Detained in Fourth Wave Operation Under Ongoing Fund Investigation
As the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office conducts a fourth wave operation in its fund investigation, numerous suspects have been referred to the courthouse and the CMB has evaluated measures.
In the fourth wave operation carried out as part of the comprehensive fund investigation led by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 9 people were detained. Within the framework of the investigation, while some suspects were referred to the courthouse, the Capital Markets Board's precautionary decisions and new criminal complaints drew attention.
Nine New Detentions in the Operation
New steps have been taken within the scope of the investigation conducted under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Bureau for Investigation of Terrorism Financing and Laundering Offenses. In the fourth wave operation targeting allegations of violating the Capital Markets Law, market fraud, and laundering of assets derived from crime, 9 people were detained. Among those detained are Destek Investment Bank General Manager Özgür Akayoğlu, as well as names such as Altuğ Kantarcı, Ali Çil, Tuğba Hicran Ataseven, and Duygu Somay.
Surrender Process of Fugitive Individuals
It was observed that some individuals sought by the investigation surrendered of their own accord. Orhan Aksüt, who was in fugitive status, and İskender Balcı, former Board Member of Özata Denizcilik who was determined to have gone abroad on September 26, returned to the country and surrendered to the judicial authorities. With these developments, the movement of suspects and judicial processes within the scope of the investigation file have gained momentum.
Referral of Suspects to the Courthouse
The referral of suspects held in custody at the Istanbul Police Department's Financial Crimes Investigation Branch to judicial authorities continues. 12 suspects, including Kerem Lafçı, Necmettin Enes Töbü, Engin Geylan, Niyazi Derindağ, and Hacı Bayram Adıyaman, were referred to the courthouse. Additionally, it was shared that Erdin Özel and Emir Münür Sarpyener will also be referred to the courthouse after the completion of their judicial procedures.
CMB Letter and Judicial Measures
One of the most significant developments affecting the course of the investigation was the letter sent to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, signed by the Chairman of the Capital Markets Board. The relevant letter emphasized the existence of strong suspicion of crime regarding market fraud. The CMB requested that judicial measures on responsible legal entities and funds be re-evaluated in order to ensure the orderly functioning of markets and the continuation of commercial activities.
Tera Financial Investments Decisions
The Capital Markets Board concluded its examination regarding Tera Financial Investments Holding. As a result of the examination, it was decided to file criminal complaints against 37 people and impose a 2-year trading ban. Furthermore, it was decided to impose a 2-year trading ban on 2 legal entities, and the cancellation of the license and authorization certificates of 24 people was decided.
