Non-Financial Companies' Net Foreign Exchange Deficit Rose in July

According to Central Bank data, companies' foreign exchange position deficit increased in July.

According to data announced by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, the net foreign exchange position deficit of non-financial companies increased by $5 billion 27 million in July compared to the previous month, reaching $210 billion 802 million.

Distribution of Assets and Liabilities

In July, companies' foreign exchange assets increased by $2 billion 279 million compared to the previous month, while their liabilities rose by $7 billion 306 million.

Changes in Asset Items

Export receivables increased by $2 billion 175 million, deposits in domestic banks by $1 billion 74 million, and foreign direct investments by $607 million.

In the same period, derivative assets decreased by $1 billion 547 million and securities by $29 million.

Increases in Liability Items

In July, derivative liabilities increased by $3 billion 472 million and cash loans obtained domestically by $2 billion 80 million.

Import debts rose by $1 billion 147 million and cash loans obtained from abroad by $607 million.

Maturity Structure of Loans

Short-term loans obtained domestically increased by $220 million, and long-term loans by $1 billion 861 million.

Short-term loans obtained from abroad rose by $807 million, and long-term loans by $947 million.

Short-Term Net Foreign Exchange Position

Short-term assets were recorded at $151 billion 772 million, and short-term liabilities at $147 billion 397 million.

The short-term net foreign exchange position decreased by $2 billion 168 million in July compared to the previous month, falling to $4 billion 374 million, and the share of short-term liabilities was 37 percent.
