Number of registered unemployed exceeded 2.3 million in August 2026

According to the August 2026 data released by the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR), the number of registered unemployed individuals in the country recorded an increase of 1.57 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.

Registered Unemployed Count in August

According to İŞKUR's August 2026 bulletin, the number of registered unemployed reached 2 million 337 thousand 718 people. Men accounted for 48.9 percent and women for 51.1 percent of the unemployed in the institution's records.

Rate of Young Unemployed

The share of young people aged between 15 and 24 among the registered unemployed was recorded at 24.3 percent. Various efforts continue to be carried out for the participation of the young population in employment.

Job Placement Figures

In August, a total of 99 thousand 815 people, including 60 thousand 487 men and 39 thousand 328 women, were placed in jobs through İŞKUR. In the first eight months of the year, the total number of people brought into employment reached 947 thousand 120.

Employed Groups

During the first eight months of the year, 360 thousand 797 women, 312 thousand 239 youth, 31 thousand 301 disabled individuals, and 173 thousand 481 higher education graduate citizens gained the opportunity to have a job.

Highest Employment in the Manufacturing Sector

In the first eight months of the year, the highest job placement was achieved in the manufacturing industry. Looking at occupational groups, the highest employment was provided in tourism and hotel staff, unarmed private security guard, and aisle attendant occupations.

Open Job Postings and Sectoral Distribution

While the number of open jobs given to İŞKUR by employers in August was 201 thousand 790, the total number of open jobs in the January-August period reached 1 million 616 thousand 731. The overwhelming majority of open jobs were created by the private sector.
