Nvidia Executive Calls on G20 Ministers for Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang called on ministers to build data centers for artificial intelligence during the G20 meeting in North Carolina. Huang stated that leaders who focus on the risks of the technology face the danger of leaving their countries behind.

The Importance of Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure

Nvidia President Jensen Huang made important statements addressing ministers on the second day of the G20 meeting. Stating that artificial intelligence is a fundamental infrastructure like water, roads, electricity, and internet, he said that every country must establish this infrastructure to support its own local economy.

Graphics processing units used in data centers built globally play a key role in training artificial intelligence models. It was stated that these facilities provide digital intellectual capacity to researchers, students, society, and startups.

Employment Concerns and Regulations

Huang argued that fears that artificial intelligence will eliminate job opportunities do not reflect reality. He expressed that instead of jobs disappearing, they will be redefined, and while tasks are automated, the purpose of the jobs will remain intact. Stating that leaders talking about technology with fear and uncertainty could yield bad results, Huang warned against excessive regulations, expressing that actual and pragmatic harms rather than hypothetical harms should be regulated.
