A Presidential Decree prepared for the privatization of two strait bridges, eight highways, and two ring roads operated by the General Directorate of Highways for a period of thirty years has been published in the Official Gazette.

The decision regarding the privatization of certain bridges and highways operated by the General Directorate of Highways entered into force after being published in the Official Gazette.

Assets to be Transferred

Among the assets within the scope of privatization are many highways and ring roads, including the 15 July Martyrs Bridge and Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge.

Transaction Schedule and Duration

It was stated that the procedures to be carried out by the Privatization Administration will cover a thirty-year period and will be completed by December 31, 2031.

Ministry Statement

The Ministry of Treasury and Finance stated that the main objective is to increase service quality and operational efficiency on the condition that ownership remains with the state.

Income and Expense Balance

The Ministry explained that the annual amount of six hundred million dollars is not direct profit, and that half of it consists of expenses such as maintenance and personnel.

Status of Tolls

In the official statements made, it was emphasized that making free highways subject to tolls or introducing an additional increase in toll fees is out of the question.
