Penalty Imposed on Business Delaying Refunds in Online Shopping
Following a CİMER complaint, the Ministry of Trade imposed an administrative sanction on a company that failed to refund the price of an undelivered product on time.
After a citizen filed a CİMER application because they could not receive a television purchased online and their payment was not refunded within the legally specified period, the Ministry of Trade initiated an inspection.
CİMER Application Initiated an Investigation
A CİMER application dated September 30, 2026, filed by a citizen who suffered a grievance in their online shopping, was taken into consideration by the Ministry of Trade and immediately put under review.
Refund Period Violated
During official audits, it was determined that although the consumer was notified that the ordered television could not be procured, the collected product price was not refunded within the legal period.
Administrative Sanction Imposed on the Business
As a result of the evaluation made within the framework of the provisions of Law No. 6502 on the Protection of Consumers, an administrative sanction decision was issued against the relevant business that violated consumer rights.
Ministry Continues Inspections
Ministry of Trade officials stated that inspections against such practices contrary to legislation will continue resolutely in order to protect the economic interests of citizens and prevent losses of rights.
