Physical completion on the Çeşmeli-Kızkalesi Motorway reaches 98 percent
Minister Uraloğlu stated that with the 52-kilometer-long project, heavy transportation times during the summer months will be significantly shortened.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that work on the Çeşmeli-Kızkalesi Motorway has reached the final stage and physical completion has hit 98 percent.
Length and Scope of the Motorway
The Çeşmeli-Kızkalesi section of the Çeşmeli-Erdemli-Silifke-Taşucu Motorway project has a total length of 52 kilometers. This route consists of 41 kilometers of motorway and 11 kilometers of connection roads.
Art Structures and Tunnels
Within the scope of ongoing work, the project includes significant engineering structures. A total of 6 intersections, 7 tunnels with a total length of 10,116 meters, and 5 viaducts with a length of 1,633 meters are being constructed along the route.
Solution to Traffic Load and Time Constraints
The newly opened section aims to alleviate the traffic density in the region, which increases particularly during the summer months. A large portion of the transit traffic on the existing state road will be diverted to the motorway.
Major Drop in Travel Time
As a result of the planning carried out, the journey time, which takes about 2.5 hours during the summer periods, will drop to 18 minutes thanks to this motorway.
Current Physical Status and Statements
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that they are nearing the end of the project and noted that the work has currently reached a physical completion rate of 98 percent.
