Virtual patrols by gendarmerie forces: Hundreds of websites blocked
As a result of virtual patrol activities carried out by the Ankara Provincial Gendarmerie Command, 417 websites sharing criminal content such as illegal betting and fraud were shut down.
Within the framework of virtual patrol activities conducted by the Ankara Provincial Gendarmerie Command, access was blocked to 417 websites determined to contain illegal betting, fraud, and obscene content.
Virtual Patrol Activities
Audits against malicious content on the internet were carried out within the scope of virtual patrol and open-source research studies conducted by the teams of the Ankara Provincial Gendarmerie Command.
These audit and inspection activities were meticulously continued over a specific date range, ensuring the identification of addresses containing elements of crime.
Examined Accounts and Addresses
During the ongoing operations, a total of 760 social media accounts and URL addresses were examined in detail by the security forces.
As a result of the examinations, internet addresses determined to be engaging in illegal activities were recorded one by one.
Blocked Websites
A total of 341 websites determined to facilitate illegal betting were identified and blocked through the relevant institutions.
Access was also blocked to 6 websites engaging in fraud via phishing and 70 websites determined to share obscene content.
Interinstitutional Cooperation
Necessary notifications were made to the Information Technologies and Communications Authority in order to shut down the identified malicious websites.
Following these notifications, the access blocking procedures targeting the relevant websites were officially enacted.
Clarification of Cyber Incidents
Special studies conducted to shed light on unsolved cyber incidents occurring throughout the year continue without slowing down.
Within this scope, a qualified fraud incident that took place in the Çankaya district was resolved under the coordination of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
Initiation of Legal Proceedings
Legal proceedings were initiated by the authorized authorities against the suspect identified as having committed the qualified fraud incident in Çankaya.
The legal process and investigation regarding the incident are being meticulously maintained.
