Preparations have officially begun for the international economic and investment forum planned to be held in Erbil with the participation of the Kurdistan Region, Turkey, and Azerbaijan.

Purpose and Date of the Forum

Hundreds of merchants and investors will come together in Erbil to participate in a joint economic forum aiming to strengthen commercial relations among them, particularly through road transport. Preparations have begun for the economic and investment forum to be held in Erbil among the Kurdistan Region, Turkey, and Azerbaijan.

Ibrahim Agha Gerdi, a member of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated that the forum is planned to be held in Erbil on September 20, noting that the objective is to develop tripartite economic and commercial relations.

Participant Profile and Companies

Ibrahim Agha Gerdi stated that the forum will host 130 merchants and company owners from the Kurdistan Region and the central and southern provinces of Iraq, alongside approximately 150 merchants and company owners from Turkey and Azerbaijan.

Importance of Road Trade

Emphasizing that the Kurdistan Region seeks to increase its road trade volume with Azerbaijan through this forum, Gerdi stated that the road distance between the Kurdistan Region and the country in question is only seven hours.

Regional Commercial Relations

In the past period, commercial and diplomatic relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Republic of Azerbaijan have shown significant development, especially following official visits by high-ranking officials to Baku. Meanwhile, Turkey remains the largest trading partner of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
