Private Sector Development and Innovation Drive in Central and Western Vietnam
A scientific conference gathered in Dak Lak discussed growth strategies for the private economy in the Central and Central Highlands regions, focusing on digital transformation, technology, and innovation.
At the 2026 annual scientific conference held in Dak Lak province by the Central and Central Highlands Regions Institute of Social Sciences under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, challenges faced by the private economy in the region as well as processes of innovation, technology, and participation in value chains were addressed.
Scope of the Conference and Participants
Held under the theme 'Development of the Private Economy in the Central and Central Highlands Regions', the 2026 annual scientific conference was attended by over 100 delegates, including managers, scientists, association representatives, universities, and business community members.
Organizers announced that a total of 140 papers were received, of which 60 were selected for inclusion in the official scientific proceedings book featuring an ISBN number.
Key Challenges Faced by the Private Sector
In his opening speech, Dr. Nguyen Duy Thuy, Director of the Central and Central Highlands Regions Institute of Social Sciences, drew attention to the need for the private sector to enhance its competitiveness, innovate, and participate deeply in value chains.
Dr. Nguyen Duy Thuy emphasized that despite holding potential, businesses in the region face certain limitations regarding enterprise scale, access to finance, resources, management capacity, and regional connectivity.
The Role of Science and Technology
Studies presented at the conference argued that private sector development must be addressed within a broader framework connecting the Central Highlands with the Central Coast and neighboring economic hubs.
It was stated that science, technology, and innovation must become an indispensable part of the process to increase productivity, product quality, and the competitiveness of businesses.
Technology-Driven Startup Stories
Dat Viet Food Technology Joint Stock Company, selected as the logistics supplier for the conference, participated in the event with its products based on technology research in food ingredient processing.
The results of the ultrasonic coffee research project, led by young scientist Duong Minh Tam, were shared as a practical example in the company's product development process.
Award-Winning Products and Certifications
While the ultrasonic coffee project won technical innovation awards in Ho Chi Minh City in 2025 and in Dak Lak province in 2026, the company stated that it has completed its patent registration process.
The company also noted that its Quantum Honey product, developed with advanced raw material processing techniques, meets food safety standards such as ISO 22000:2018, HACCP, GMP Food, and FDA.
