Qatar Resumes LNG Shipments Through the Strait of Hormuz
A steady revival has been observed in LNG tanker activities through the Strait of Hormuz, which had been suspended since early July.
Qatar has begun increasing its liquefied natural gas shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, having largely halted them since early July following an attack on one of its vessels.
Vessel Tracking Data
According to vessel tracking data compiled by Bloomberg, at least two laden vessels were dispatched outward through the Strait of Hormuz last week. During the same period, at least two other vessels moved in the opposite direction, entering the Persian Gulf.
Shipment Destinations
It was determined that one of these shipments was heading toward the western coast of India. It was stated that no signals were detected during the passage of four vessels through the strait.
Location Detection Challenges
The widespread occurrence of signal jamming and interference in the region makes it quite difficult to determine the exact locations of passing vessels. Despite this, the recent activity points to a steady increase.
Global Supply and War Impact
Before the war, the Strait of Hormuz accounted for approximately one-fifth of the global LNG supply, but attacks made the passages hazardous. Traffic levels still remain well below pre-war figures.
