Raid on Illegal Panel Housing Millions of People's Data
In a joint cyber operation conducted by the National Intelligence Organization and gendarmerie teams, suspects who queried the identity and GSM numbers of millions of citizens were captured.
Two suspects were detained in an operation targeting the cyber panel named "Dragon Hackerz", which allowed the illegal querying of identity and contact information belonging to hundreds of millions of citizens.
Initiation of the Investigation
It was reported that a comprehensive investigation process was launched by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office targeting illegal panels for cybersecurity and the protection of personal data.
Inter-Agency Coordination
A joint study was carried out under the coordination of the National Intelligence Organization, the Presidency of Cybersecurity, and the Ankara Provincial Gendarmerie Command Cyber Crimes Branch Directorate.
As a result of these joint efforts, the suspicious system named "Dragon Hackerz", which performed unlawful queries, was placed under surveillance.
Scope of Data Accessed
Technical examinations revealed that the illegal panel in question allowed querying identity data belonging to 101 million people and 118 million GSM numbers.
Operation and Detentions
In line with the findings obtained, a simultaneous operation was carried out on September 24 against the suspects determined to be managing the panel.
As a result of the operation, 2 suspects were detained, while numerous digital materials were seized during searches at the addresses.
