Regular Health Screenings Conducted for Millions of Elderly People Nationwide
It was announced that millions of elderly citizens underwent health screenings and comprehensive social support funds were established within the scope of the congress held in Vietnam.
Nguyen Thanh Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly, announced that approximately 5 million elderly people in the country have undergone regular health check-ups, and millions have health record tracking and insurance cards.
Health and Social Security Data
Approximately 5 million elderly citizens nationwide undergo regular health check-ups. While 4.5 million of these individuals have health monitoring records, more than 96 percent of the elderly possess health insurance cards.
Congress and Support Activities
The information was disclosed within the framework of the Congress of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly for the 2026-2031 term. During the opening ceremony held prior to the congress, eye examination consultations were provided to elderly citizens.
Ninety-five percent of the association's branches have established a fund aimed at supporting the care and role of the elderly, with a total annual fund exceeding 300 billion VND.
Production and Social Contributions
Currently, more than 9 million elderly citizens directly participate in labor and production processes. Over 455,000 of them hold titles of outstanding economic achievement.
More than 750,000 elderly people actively participate in the work of the party, government, front, mass organizations, people's inspection, and grassroots mediation.

In the country where the population is aging rapidly, there is a solid foundation for the formation and development of a silver economy based on the elderly population.
The most important shift in the upcoming period has been determined as the transition from the mindset of caring for the elderly to the understanding of protecting and developing their roles.
