Retail and Wholesale Prices Increased in Istanbul in August
In Istanbul, retail prices increased by 1.66 percent in August, while the increase in wholesale prices stood at the level of 2.5 percent.
According to the August data shared by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, retail prices citywide recorded an increase of 1.66 percent compared to the previous month, while wholesale prices rose by 2.5 percent.
August Price Changes
The August results of the Istanbul Consumer Price Index and the Wholesale Prices Index, based on ITO 2023=100, were shared with the public by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce.
According to the released data, the index representing retail price movements in the city showed an increase of 1.66 percent in August compared to the previous month.
Annual Inflation Rates
Compared to the same month of the previous year, the price change rates stood at 34.96 percent in the retail sector.
In the same period, the annual change rate recorded in wholesale prices was registered as 25.07 percent.
Highest Increase in Retail was in Education
The highest rate of increase in the Istanbul Consumer Price Index in August compared to the previous month was seen in the education expenditures group with 17.28 percent.
This group was followed by alcoholic beverages and tobacco with 8.22 percent and housing expenditures groups with 2.32 percent.
Unprocessed Goods in Wholesale
In August, compared to the previous month, the group where wholesale prices increased the most was unprocessed materials with an increase of 2.79 percent.
Unprocessed materials were followed by fuel and energy materials groups with 2.75 percent and construction materials groups with 1.99 percent.
