Saudi Arabia's East-West Oil Pipeline, which gained critical importance as tensions between the US and Iran neutralized the Strait of Hormuz, has been targeted by drones.
Attack and Closure Decision
According to a statement by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Energy, a drone attack was carried out on the East-West Oil Pipeline located in the Riyadh-Medina region, which is one of the country's main energy transmission lines.
Following this attack, the Riyadh-Medina line was temporarily closed in order to prevent potential risks and take security measures.
Strategic Importance of the Pipeline
Also known as Petroline, this infrastructure ranks among Saudi Arabia's most critical crude oil transport lines and holds a major share in global energy markets.
Operated by Saudi Aramco, the pipeline extends for approximately twelve hundred kilometers from the Abqaiq region to the Yanbu port on the Red Sea coast.
Capacity and Market Impact
The shutdown of the pipeline, which has a daily transport capacity of seven million barrels, stands out as a development closely monitored and causing concern in global energy markets.
