Saudi Aramco Moves to Facility Inspections in Partnership Talks with OYAK
Saudi Aramco, one of the world's leading energy companies, has begun field inspections in its partnership negotiations with OYAK's subsidiary GüzelEnerji to establish a presence in the Turkish fuel market.
Saudi Arabian oil giant Saudi Aramco has reached the facility inspection stage in ongoing partnership talks with GüzelEnerji, a subsidiary of OYAK, to enter the Turkish fuel market. The negotiations between the parties are expected to become official in the coming months.
Facility Inspection Visits
Senior executives of Saudi Aramco visited the country to conduct on-site inspections of the facilities of GüzelEnerji, operating under OYAK, as part of their strategies to enter the fuel market in Turkey. Officials conducted detailed inspections at storage and filling facilities located in Izmir Aliağa, Samsun, and Kocaeli Gebze. Industry sources state that the partnership negotiations between the parties are projected to be concluded and moved to an official stage within a few months.
Background and Scope of Negotiations
Contacts between Aramco and OYAK had previously been reflected in the public domain. International fuel sector publication MobilityPlaza reported on May 25 that Saudi Aramco was conducting talks to acquire a stake in GüzelEnerji. OYAK Energy Companies Chairman of the Board Uğur Doğan had previously confirmed in statements that partnership and cooperation issues in the energy sector were being discussed with Aramco. Doğan emphasized that the talks covered the partnership option, but that the sale or transfer of the entire company was definitely not on the agenda.
GüzelEnerji's Market Position
Established by OYAK in March 2020, GüzelEnerji continues its operations in the fuel sector with the TotalEnergies Stations, M Oil, Valvoline, and Türk Petrol brands. According to official data, the total number of stations within the company reached 1,055 as of January 2026. According to the Energy Market Regulatory Authority data for the May 2026 period, GüzelEnerji holds a market share of 8.81 percent in the diesel market and 7.48 percent in the gasoline market.
