Sectoral Workshop Held within the Scope of the Turkey Emissions Trading System
The TR ETS process and sectoral reporting steps were discussed at the meeting held in Ankara under the auspices of the Climate Change Directorate.
The Climate Change Directorate announced that it organized a broad-participation workshop focused on sectoral studies and reporting within the framework of the Turkey Emissions Trading System (TR ETS).
Workshop Details
Organized within the scope of the Project on the Implementation of Benchmark Values Based on Greenhouse Gas Emission Intensity, the program was held in Ankara with over four hundred participants.
Focused Sectors
The meeting addressed the benchmark values and the development of reporting systems for the iron and steel, cement, electricity, aluminum, and fertilizer sectors that will be directly affected.
2053 Targets
Delivering the opening speech, Climate Change Vice President Mehrali Ecer stated that the system is a critical policy instrument in terms of the 2053 Net Zero Emission Target.
International Harmonization
Ecer emphasized that the implementation aims to protect the competitiveness of the industrial sector and prepare for the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism.
