Services Producer Price Index Rose by 3 Percent in July

The Turkish Statistical Institute announced the services production index and construction production index data for July. According to the released figures, divergent trends were observed in the two sectors on an annual basis.

Developments in the Services Sector

According to Turkish Statistical Institute data, the services production index increased by 3 percent in July compared to the same period of the previous year. In the same period, the index rose by 1 percent compared to the previous month.

Annual Performance of Sub-Sectors

Various changes were recorded in the sub-items of the services sector on an annual basis. Transportation and storage increased by 2.8 percent, accommodation and food by 5.3 percent, information and communication by 7.9 percent, and professional, scientific and technical services by 5.5 percent.

Change in Construction Production Index

In July, the construction production index recorded a 4.7 percent decline on an annual basis. In contrast, the construction production index showed an increase of 1.1 percent on a monthly basis.

Status of Construction Sub-Sectors

Examining the sub-sectors of the construction sector, on an annual basis, the building construction sector index decreased by 8 percent and the specialized construction activities sector index decreased by 4.9 percent. Meanwhile, the civil engineering sector index increased by 14 percent.
