Social rental housing era begins in Istanbul for the first time in Turkey

Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum announced that 15,000 houses built by TOKİ in Istanbul within the scope of the social rental housing project, which will be implemented for the first time in Turkey, will be delivered within the month of September.

15 Thousand Houses Delivered in Istanbul

Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum announced that the social rental housing model, which will be applied for the first time in Turkey, has reached the delivery stage. It was stated that the first phase of 15,000 houses built by TOKİ in Istanbul will be delivered to the citizens of Istanbul within the month of September.

Aiming to Lower Rental Prices

With this new model, where low-income citizens will become tenants of the state, it is aimed to drive down rental prices and rental inflation in Istanbul. The project is also targeted to provide support for urban transformation and earthquake transformation.

Conditions to be Presented at the Cabinet Meeting

Minister Kurum stated that the finalized conditions regarding the rental houses will be presented to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Cabinet meeting this week. It was expressed that detailed statements will be shared with the public by the President following the meeting.

Target of 500 Thousand Rental Houses Nationwide

In line with the targets included in the AK Party's 25th-anniversary vision document, it was noted that a total of 500,000 social rental houses are planned to be implemented nationwide in order to balance the pressure of rent increases.
