Statement from the Ministry of Treasury and Finance: No Grey List Risk for Turkey
It has been announced that Turkey is not on the grey list, having been found compliant in 38 out of 40 recommendations in the Financial Action Task Force's 5th round evaluation.
The Ministry of Treasury and Finance announced that in the 5th round evaluation conducted by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), Turkey was found compliant in 38 out of 40 recommendations and that there is no risk of being placed on the grey list.
FATF Evaluation Results
The Ministry of Treasury and Finance reported that Turkey achieved significant success in the 5th round evaluation carried out by the Financial Action Task Force. In the report adopted at the General Assembly meeting held in June, the country's legal and institutional infrastructure was examined.
Technical Compliance and Recommendations
In the technical compliance section of the evaluation, the 40 recommendations set by FATF served as the basis. Turkey was evaluated as fully compliant in 38 of these 40 recommendations, thereby registering the strength of its infrastructure to combat financial crimes.
Effectiveness Evaluation Criteria
In the effectiveness section of the report, Turkey's practices in combating financial crimes were addressed through 11 core outcomes. The country was found to be substantially effective in 3 of these outcomes and moderately effective in 8.
Grey List Status and Strategies
As a result of the evaluations, the Ministry emphasized that Turkey has no strategic deficiencies and that there is no risk of a grey list. It was stated that efforts to combat financial crimes will continue in line with designated strategy documents.
