Statement on Civil Servant and Retiree Pensions from Minister Mehmet Şimşek

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek made evaluations regarding economic policies and Medium-Term Program processes in a live broadcast he attended, announcing that civil servant and retiree pensions will increase by at least the inflation rate.
Medium-Term Program and Emphasis on Inflation
Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek stated that the Medium-Term Program is binding for the public sector and serves as a guide for the private sector.
Minister Şimşek drew attention to the negative impacts of wars in the region on inflation, stating that had these adversities not occurred, inflation would have been seven percentage points lower.
Civil Servant and Retiree Pension Increases
Making statements regarding current gündem on the live broadcast, Minister Şimşek emphasized that the increases to be made in the salaries of public employees and retirees will be at least at the inflation rate.
Current Account Deficit Targets and Economic Policies
Şimşek noted that a large portion of the targets in the Medium-Term Program have been met, and that the 2024 and 2025 targets, particularly regarding the current account deficit, have been achieved with great success.
Stating that combating the cost of living is their highest priority, Şimşek expressed that they will definitely not compromise on the disinflation policy during the electoral process.
