Statement on Domestic Production from Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Bayraktar
Minister Alparslan Bayraktar stated that Turkish Petroleum will achieve the country's energy independence with a daily production target of 1 million barrels.
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar announced that Turkey will end its dependence on foreign oil and natural gas and reach a self-sufficient position.
Energy Security in the Global Crisis
It was emphasized that having one's own energy is of critical importance during this period when the world is experiencing a major energy crisis. It was stated that Turkish Petroleum will transform into a structure that will produce 1 million barrels of oil and natural gas per day in the future.
Osman Gazi Floating Production Platform
The Osman Gazi Floating Production Platform, which will be sent off to its duty in the Black Sea at the end of October, houses 21 separate facilities within it. Seventy percent of these facilities were realized by industrial organizations in Turkey. The platform is planned to continue uninterrupted production for 20 years.
Production and Personnel Targets
It was announced that 7,000 people are currently working on the project. It was reported that localization has been achieved in human resources in the energy field and a reverse brain drain has been realized from abroad. The new platform to be commissioned in the third phase of production is targeted to be brought by the end of 2027 and become operational in 2028.
Production Increase and Tax Exemptions
Turkish Petroleum's current production figure of 350,000 barrels is projected to be increased to 550,000 to 600,000 barrels in 2028, and then to 1 million barrels. It was conveyed that 250 billion liras in taxes were waived within the scope of the Sliding Scale System in order to prevent price increases in fuel products from reflecting on citizens.
2040 Energy Architecture
It was announced that Turkey's new energy architecture covering its 2040 targets will be announced to the public as of the end of October or early November.
