Turkish Banks Association Chairman of the Board Alpaslan Çakar stated that the money coming out of fund investigations entered the banking sector and remained within the system, and they do not expect this situation to create a negative impact on the sector.

Turkish Banks Association Chairman of the Board Alpaslan Çakar evaluated fund investigations at an event held in Istanbul. Çakar emphasized that the money coming out of fund investigations entered the banking sector and remained within the system.

No Expectation of Negative Impact

Stating that the market is the same market, Çakar noted that the fund issue occurred in a more limited area and that individuals mostly constituted this area. Çakar expressed that these developments are out of the question to negatively affect the banking sector.

Credit Limit and Liquidity Need

Stating that the Central Bank's increase of the growth limit on SME loans from 4.5 percent to 5 percent is unrelated to the fund investigations, Çakar emphasized that this regulation stemmed from the liquidity need in the market.

Energy Loans and Renewable Investments

Announcing that the energy loans of the Turkish banking sector have exceeded 1 trillion liras, Çakar conveyed that 347 billion liras of the 695 billion lira project financing portion consists of renewable energy loans.
