Statement on Highways and Bridges from the Privatization Administration

A Presidential Decree regarding the inclusion of three highways, connecting roads, and related facilities under the responsibility of the General Directorate of Highways into the privatization scope has been published in the Official Gazette.
Transfer of Operating Rights Model
It was stated that the ongoing efforts do not involve the sale of public assets, but are based on a model that involves the transfer of operating rights for a certain period, provided that ownership remains with the state.
Emphasis on Service Quality and Investment
It was emphasized that the primary priority in this model, rather than generating revenue, is to raise the quality of service on the highways, accelerate maintenance and investments, and increase operational efficiency.
Costs and Misleading Assessments
It was stated that the claims in the public regarding an 18 billion dollar profit do not reflect the truth, and that the announced figure is revenue, not profit, and half of this amount is spent on maintenance and repair expenses.
Tolls and Employee Rights
It was announced that there is no decision that would turn free highways into toll roads, introduce any additional increase in toll fees, or cause employees to lose their existing rights.
