Evaluating macroeconomic indicators, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek announced that annual inflation has fallen below 30 percent for the first time since November 2021.
Current Status of Inflation
Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek made important evaluations regarding macroeconomic indicators and inflation data. He stated that annual inflation dropped below 30 percent after 57 months, for the first time since November 2021.
General Spread of Disinflation
Minister Şimşek stated that the disinflation process has spread generally, excluding transportation. In addition, according to Central Bank calculations, inflation would have been 7 points lower this year had there been no war.
Food and Rent Inflation
In September, food inflation decreased by 8.4 points compared to the same period of last year, realizing at an annual level of 27.6 percent. Annual rent inflation dropped to 41.3 percent with a decline of 27.8 points.
Education and Supply Policies
With the contribution of rule-based regulations, education inflation declined by 17.5 points annually to 48.6 percent. At the same time, it was stated that policies aimed at increasing housing and food supply are being maintained.
Fuel and Sliding Scale (Eşel Mobil) System
It was noted that in order to limit the impact of fluctuations in global energy markets, the sliding scale system (eşel mobil) is being gradually phased out for gasoline following diesel.
