Steps for Critical Minerals and Economic Security with the Medium-Term Program

While a special law for critical and strategic minerals is planned to be enacted within the framework of the Medium-Term Program, new regulations and action plans aimed at ensuring supply security in areas such as energy, food, and the manufacturing industry have been announced.

Special Law for Critical Minerals

Enacting a special law for critical and strategic minerals, for which Turkey has completed trial-level production, has been included in the Medium-Term Program.

Economic Security and Energy Steps

An Economic Security and Resilience section was opened in the program, and within this scope, it was decided to increase exploration activities in the energy sector and develop storage capacity.

Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz emphasized that public SOEs should conduct more exploration in the energy field and increase their global effectiveness.

Sectoral Action Plans

Special action plans aimed at technology development and supporting production for supply security in the manufacturing, energy, agriculture, health, and transportation sectors will be prepared.

It was stated that these action plans will be implemented under the coordination of the Strategy and Budget Directorate.

Social Support and Housing Projects

With the aim of strengthening the family and increasing social resilience, it was targeted to expand the support provided to young people getting married and to ensure that low-income individuals benefit from it more.

Accelerating the construction of social housing for low-income individuals, people with disabilities, and newlyweds was among the plans.

Reflection of Defense Technologies on the Civilian Sphere

It was stated that special studies will be conducted for the use of technologies produced in the defense industry in the civilian sphere, and that domestic and national capabilities will be utilized in technology-intensive civilian procurements.
