In the first half of the year, Germany's economic performance had exceeded expectations thanks to exports acting as a strong driving force.
This positive picture had paved the way for economists to revise their growth forecasts upward.
Bundesbank's Production Expectations
Bundesbank President Joachim Nagel had stated in assessments made during the strong performance period at the beginning of the year that this year's production growth could reach the 1 percent level.
This rate meant that the growth pace projected just three months earlier could double.
US Market and Foreign Trade Surplus
According to Destatis data, while exports to the US recorded an increase of over 19 percent in July, imports from the world's largest economy fell.
Germany achieved a total foreign trade surplus of 21.3 billion euros in July, with 138.2 billion euros in exports and 116.9 billion euros in imports.
