Strict Tax Audits on Large-Scale Taxpayers by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance
Within the scope of the studies conducted by the Tax Inspection Board, 31.3% of large-scale taxpayers were placed under inspection.
The Tax Inspection Board, affiliated with the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, has increased its inspections targeting high-income groups and large-scale taxpayers. As a result of the implemented programs, tax base increases were achieved, and some taxpayers submitted their declarations for the first time.
One-Third of Large Taxpayers Under Inspection
Inspections conducted by the Tax Inspection Board continue to focus on individuals in the high-income group. This year, 31.3% of large-scale taxpayers were subjected to tax inspections.
This rate, which was around 11% in previous years, was recorded at 7.3% for medium-scale taxpayers and 1.1% for small-scale taxpayers.
High-Income Groups Monitoring Program
The Second High-Income Groups Monitoring and Compliance Program was launched for the earnings declarations of taxpayers in the high-income group. The tax base increased within the scope of the program reached 48.7 billion liras.
The total number of taxpayers included in the monitoring scope and evaluated to be in the high-income group was determined as 16,307.
Luxury Lifestyle and Declaration Processes
It was determined that some of the individuals examined within the scope of the study have partnerships in large companies, but their income tax amounts do not match the risk analysis results.
Individuals who do not have any company partnership, exhibit a luxury lifestyle, but whose paid taxes do not match this situation were also among the inspection groups.
Those Who Filed Declarations for the First Time
It was determined that approximately 7,000 taxpayers under monitoring had never made a declaration in the past period. Many of these individuals declared income for the first time as a result of the process.
As a result of these developments, significant increases were recorded in income tax declarations, withholding tax bases, and corporate tax bases.
Call for Voluntary Compliance from Minister Şimşek
Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek stated that inspection capacity has been significantly strengthened through the effective use of technology.
Stating that they have directed their capacity towards large-scale and high-income groups in order to increase tax justice, Şimşek invited taxpayers to voluntary compliance with taxes.
