Turkey Banks Association Board Chairman Alpaslan Çakar stated that recent fund investigations will not have a negative reflection on the banking sector and noted that money remains within the system.

Turkey Banks Association Board Chairman Alpaslan Çakar made statements regarding the agenda at the press meeting titled Financing Transformation: Turkey on the Path to COP31.

Limit Update in SME Loans

A decision was made by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey to increase the 4.5 percent growth limit on SME loans to 5 percent.

Alpaslan Çakar emphasized that this regulation has no connection with the fund investigations and stems from the need of SMEs to access liquidity.

Impact of Fund Investigations on the Sector

Speaking about the potential effects of fund investigations on the banking sector, Çakar stated that there is no question of the sector being negatively affected by this process.

Expressing that the market is the same market, Çakar noted that the money leaving the market re-entered the banking sector and therefore remained within the system.
