The Importance of Trade Fairs as a Gateway to Global Markets for SMEs
Trade fairs provide a critical commercial meeting point for SMEs to reach new customers and increase their international competitiveness.
For SMEs looking to compete in global markets and increase their exports, domestic and international trade fair organizations constitute a strategic commercial showcase.
The Importance of Fairs in Trade
Trade fairs constitute an important commercial meeting point for SMEs to reach new customers, develop collaborations, and promote their products in different markets. While domestic fairs offer new business connections, international organizations increase global competitiveness. While ITO organized participation in 47 international fairs in 20 countries and 28 cities in 2024, it brought Turkish companies together with buyers at more than 40 fairs in 2025.
Ministry Supports and Targets
The Ministry of Trade continues to support the participation of exporters in fairs, and companies can benefit from support rates ranging from 50 to 70 percent. The Ministry announced a target to support participation in 65 domestic, 330 international, and 1,650 individual fairs for the year 2025.
Branding and Competitiveness
Trade fairs are among the important platforms that accelerate companies' branding processes by bringing their products and services together with the target audience. Thanks to these organizations, companies analyze their foreign competitors and improve their product and service strategies.
