Minister of Environment and Urbanization Murat Kurum announced that 16.2 million cubic meters of bottom sludge will be cleaned in Fethiye to protect the marine ecosystem, launching the Mediterranean's largest environmental protection mobilization.

Environmental Protection Mobilization

Minister of Environment and Urbanization Murat Kurum announced via his social media account that an important environmental protection initiative has been launched. This initiative stands out as one of the biggest steps taken to protect the marine ecosystem in the region.

TÜCA and DERİA System

The DERİA system, implemented by the Turkish Environment Agency (TÜCA) to protect the marine ecosystem, will be actively used in the project. The system aims to protect marine traffic and ecological balance.

Bottom Sludge Cleaning

Within the scope of the fight against negative elements threatening the marine ecosystem in Fethiye, a total of 16.2 million cubic meters of bottom sludge will be cleaned. This cleaning work aims to increase the water quality of the gulf.

Mooring-Buoy System

The Mooring-Buoy System will be put into operation to protect seagrass and eliminate the need for boats to drop anchor. Thus, the sensitive seabed structure will be secured.

Regulation of Marine Traffic

Uncontrolled boat mooring will be prevented for controlled ecosystem management. In this way, marine traffic in the region will attain a more orderly and eco-friendly structure.
