Three Different Scenarios on the Agenda for the 2027 Minimum Wage Increase
In line with current economic data and inflation forecasts, alternatives ranging between 20 percent and 30 percent have been put on the table for the minimum wage increase to be made in January 2027.
With the announcement of the Medium-Term Program and the Central Bank Inflation Report data, the initial calculations and expectations regarding the 2027 minimum wage increase have begun to take shape.
Inflation Expectations Determined
With the Medium-Term Program, the year-end inflation forecast was announced as 28.4 percent.
In the Central Bank Inflation Report, the expected inflation rate for 2027 was determined at the level of 21 percent.
Current Minimum Wage Amounts
According to current data in the economy, the net minimum wage is currently implemented as 28,075.50 TL.
The gross minimum wage is at the level of 33,030 TL with the latest adjustments made.
Twenty Percent Hike Scenario
The first scenario prepared by economists in line with inflation forecasts envisions a 20 percent increase rate.
If this scenario materializes, the new minimum wage will reach the level of 33,690 TL.
Twenty-Five Percent Hike Scenario
The 25 percent increase rate, which is among the expectations, is evaluated as the medium-level scenario.
If this rate is applied, the minimum wage will rise to around 35,094 TL.
Thirty Percent Hike Scenario
The 30 percent hike scenario, which constitutes the highest increase expectation, is also among the calculations.
With the implementation of this scenario, the new wage is calculated as 36,489 TL.
Commission Decision Awaited
The net increase rate of the minimum wage will become clear after the 12-month inflation data is finalized.
The final decision will be given as a result of the meetings to be held by the Minimum Wage Determination Commission.
