Three-Month Excise Duty Exemption for LPG and Natural Gas in Bulgaria
The Bulgarian Parliament approved the decision to exempt LPG and natural gas used as fuel from special consumption tax in the final quarter of the year.
As a result of the vote in the Bulgarian Parliament, it was decided by a majority vote to exempt liquefied petroleum gas and natural gas from special consumption tax between October 1 and December 31, 2026.
Tax Exemption Approval from Parliament
In the vote held by the Bulgarian Parliament, the regulation stipulating that liquefied petroleum gas and natural gas be exempted from tax for a specific period was adopted.
Dates of Application
According to the legal regulation, LPG and natural gas consumed as fuel will be completely exempt from special consumption tax between October 1, 2026, and December 31, 2026.
Expected Impact on the Budget
According to preliminary calculations, the state budget is expected to suffer a revenue loss of approximately 20 million euros due to this three-month tax exemption practice.
Lukoil Investigation and Price Review
On the other hand, the Commission for the Protection of Competition of Bulgaria requested detailed information regarding the determination of wholesale prices for gasoline and diesel in relation to the activities of the Russian energy company Lukoil in the country.
Price Formation Process Under Review
In the official statement made by the Commission, it was stated that in accordance with the information requested from Lukoil Bulgaria and Lukoil Neftochim Burgas companies, the entire process from crude oil supply to production costs and final retail prices will be examined.
