Total Deposit and Loan Volume of the Banking Sector Increased

According to data from the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, the banking sector's deposits and total loan volume recorded an increase in the week ending September 25.

According to weekly money and banking statistics announced by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, the banking sector's total deposits and loan volume showed a significant increase in the week ending September 25.

Total Deposit Increase

The total deposits of the banking sector increased by 110 billion 384 million 754 thousand liras in the week ending September 25, reaching 34 trillion 2 billion 178 million 176 thousand liras.

Turkish Lira and Foreign Currency Deposits

During the same period, Turkish lira-denominated deposits in banks rose by 0.80 percent to reach 18 trillion 658 billion 94 million 264 thousand liras.

Foreign currency-denominated deposits increased by 0.07 percent to stand at 11 trillion 204 billion 527 million 913 thousand liras.

Foreign Currency Accounts of Domestic Residents

Out of the total foreign currency deposits, $230 billion 116 million was gathered in accounts of domestic residents, and this group saw an increase of $1 billion 342 million, adjusted for parity effects.

Distribution of Consumer Loans

Consumer loans of domestic residents increased by 0.82 percent last week to 6 trillion 941 billion 595 million 414 thousand liras.

Total Loan Volume Developments

The total loan volume of the banking sector, including the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, rose by 110 billion 884 million 218 thousand liras in the same week, reaching 27 trillion 642 billion 280 million 907 thousand liras.
