According to the weekly data of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency, as of August 21, increases were recorded in the total loan volume and total deposit amount of the banking sector. During this period, the FX-Protected Deposit balance dropped completely to zero.

Changes in Loan Volume and Deposits

The total loan volume of the banking sector increased by 50 billion 984 million liras as of August 21, reaching 27 trillion 734 billion 257 million liras.

In the same period, total deposits in the banking sector, including interbank, recorded an increase of 506 billion 469 million liras.

Consumer Loans and Card Receivables

The amount of consumer loans decreased by 23 billion 33 million liras in the specified period, falling to 3 trillion 423 billion 504 million liras.

Individual credit card receivables decreased by 2 percent to stand at 3 trillion 353 billion 271 million liras.

Non-Performing Loans and Equity

Non-performing loans in the banking sector increased by 5 billion 663 million liras compared to the previous week, rising to 838 billion 968 million liras.

The legal equity of the system increased by 47 billion 505 million liras during this period, rising to 5 trillion 983 billion 438 million liras.

FX-Protected Deposits Ended

According to the data of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency, the FX-Protected Deposit balance has been wiped out.

The FX-Protected Deposit balance, which decreased by 4 million liras last week, dropped completely to zero with the latest decline.
