Train Journey Time Between İzmir and Ankara is Decreasing

Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that with the completion of the İzmir-Ankara YHT project, travel time will drop to 3.5 hours.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made statements regarding ongoing transportation investments at the opening ceremony of the Historic Gediz Bridge in İzmir. He stated that the travel time between the two cities will be significantly reduced with the High-Speed Train project.

Historic Gediz Bridge Opened

The Historic Gediz Bridge in İzmir's Menemen district, where restoration work has been completed, was put back into service with a ceremony.

The 166.5-meter-long bridge, whose reinforcement and lighting works have been finished, was made available to serve the surrounding villages.

Restoration Works

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that they are working to preserve historical structures and pass them on to future generations.

He noted that the number of historical bridges whose restoration has been completed to date has reached 532, and work is ongoing on 48 bridges.

Ankara İzmir YHT Project

It was conveyed that with the completion of the İzmir-Ankara High-Speed Train project, the current train journey time will change.

It was emphasized that the travel time between the two cities, which currently takes 14 hours, will drop to 3.5 hours when the project is finished.

İzmir's Transportation Investments

Minister Uraloğlu stated that approximately 349 billion liras have been invested in İzmir's transportation and communication infrastructure in the last 24 years.

It was recalled that the length of the divided highway in the city has been increased to 1,000 kilometers and that the highway travel time has dropped to 3.5 hours with the İzmir-Istanbul Highway.
