Turkey and Germany Sign New Cooperation Agreement in the Agricultural Sector

At the ceremony held in Ankara with the participation of Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı and Federal German Minister of Agriculture, Food and Homeland Alois Rainer, a Joint Declaration of Intent to deepen cooperation in the agriculture and food sectors was signed, and a trade target of 5 billion dollars was announced.

Signing Ceremony in Ankara

An official signing ceremony was held to enhance cooperation in the agriculture and food sectors between Turkey and Germany. During the meeting held at the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works, a Joint Declaration of Intent was signed to advance relations between the two countries.

Trade Volume and Current Data

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı stated that in 2025, Turkey realized approximately 2.2 billion dollars of agricultural product exports to Germany. It was noted that agricultural product imports from Germany stood at around 753 million dollars.

New Target of 5 Billion Dollars

Evaluating the current economic potential, officials aim to reach a 5 billion dollar agricultural trade volume target in the near future. With the signed document, the existing memorandum of understanding is targeted to be moved to a more advanced stage.

Areas of Cooperation and Committee

There is significant cooperation potential in agricultural technologies, the food industry, digitalization, sustainable production, and agricultural R&D. Additionally, it was decided to reactivate the Turkey-Germany Agriculture Steering Committee.

Business World Contacts

As part of his program in Turkey, German Minister Alois Rainer is planned to meet with business world representatives at the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey. It was reported that the delegation will also visit companies operating in the agricultural technologies and food sectors.
