The September results of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry Turkey Manufacturing PMI survey were announced, showing that the headline PMI dropped from 48.1 in August to 47.9, indicating the continuation of the slowdown in the sector.

Latest Status in Headline PMI Data

According to the September 2026 results of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry Turkey Manufacturing PMI survey, the headline PMI fell from 48.1 in August to 47.9 in September.

Thus, the deterioration of business conditions in the manufacturing sector on a monthly basis continued for two and a half consecutive years.

Decrease in Production and Orders

Uncertainties caused by the war in the Middle East and weak demand conditions led to the continued decline in new orders.

Due to challenging market conditions, manufacturers reduced production for the fourth consecutive month; employment, purchasing activity, and inventories also showed declines.

Increase in Costs and Prices

Input costs rose to their highest level in the last four months in September due to increasing fuel, oil, transportation costs, and raw material prices.

With the reflection of rising input costs onto customers, final product price inflation also reached a four-month peak.

Sectoral Distribution and Evaluations

Andrew Harker, Economics Director at S&P Global Market Intelligence, stated that the outlook did not show a significant change throughout the third quarter and that geopolitical uncertainties limited growth.

According to the Istanbul Chamber of Industry Turkey Sectoral PMI September report, production slowed in nine out of the 10 monitored sectors, with food products being the only sector to increase production.
