Turkey Strengthens Its Central Position in Global Trade Corridors
Aiming to increase its logistical capacity on global trade routes with the new economic program, Turkey is diversifying its transportation networks.
Turkey is preparing to consolidate its position as a global logistics hub in trade corridors between Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa with the 2027-2029 Medium-Term Program.
International Corridors Are Being Strengthened
Turkey will increase the capacity of routes such as the Middle Corridor and the Development Road to raise its share of transit transportation and the added value of logistics services.
By ensuring the convergence of east-west and north-south lines within the country, alternative trade routes will be created, and international transportation will be made resilient against crises.
Middle Corridor to Extend to Europe
The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway Line and the Kars-Iğdır-Aralık-Dilucu Railway Project within the scope of the Middle Corridor, which connects Turkey to Azerbaijan, Central Asia, and China, will be developed.
With the strengthening of the Zangezur Corridor connections, railway routes extending from the Caspian basin to Europe will be diversified, and the Hejaz Railway will be improved.
New Railway Crossing for Istanbul
The Istanbul Northern Railway Crossing will be implemented as one of the most important pillars of strategic transportation projects.
Thanks to this line, the uninterrupted and high-capacity railway connection of the Middle Corridor, the Development Road, and the Gulf region with Europe will be strengthened.
Integration in the Development Road
Within the framework of the Development Road Project, road and railway connections extending from the Persian Gulf through Turkey to Europe will be developed.
By strengthening the integration of ports, railways, and highways, Turkey's central position in north-south international trade will be enhanced.
Delivery Times and Costs Will Decrease
The position of International Logistics Distribution Networks in the supply chain will be strengthened to ensure more companies participate in this system.
By aiming to realize end-to-end deliveries in a shorter time and at a lower cost, the sustainability of exports will be supported.
Alternative Plan for Critical Products
Within the scope of the three-year economic program, efforts will be carried out to reduce external dependency on critical products, inputs, and technologies.
Early detection mechanisms will be established for high-risk sectors and products, and alternative supply methods will be put into effect.
