Turkey's Installed Electricity Capacity Grew with August 2026 Data

According to data from the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Turkey's total installed electricity capacity reached 126,944 megawatts as of the end of August 2026. The share of renewable energy sources was recorded at 62.9 percent.

Installed Capacity and Renewable Share

Turkey's total installed electricity capacity rose to 126,944 megawatts as of the end of August 2026, with renewable energy sources accounting for 79,902 megawatts of this capacity.

While the share of renewable energy in the total installed capacity reached 62.9 percent, the ratio of domestic sources was realized at 72.1 percent.

Solar and Wind Energy Data

As of the end of August, solar energy installed capacity rose to 27,914 megawatts, making up 22 percent of the total capacity and becoming the largest renewable source.

In wind energy, the installed capacity reached 15,434 megawatts, and its share in the total installed capacity was recorded at 12.2 percent.

Statements by Minister Alparslan Bayraktar

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated in a social media post that Turkey continues to strengthen its energy infrastructure.

Bayraktar emphasized that they will strengthen energy supply security by accelerating investments in solar and wind, and advance toward the 2053 Net Zero Emission target.
