Turkish Economy Recorded 2.3 Percent Growth in the Second Quarter of 2026
The Turkish economy grew by 2.3 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, carrying its uninterrupted growth streak to 24 quarters.
The Turkish economy recorded a 2.3 percent growth in the second quarter of 2026 compared to the same period of the previous year. With this announced rate, the economy managed to maintain its growth trend for 24 consecutive quarters.
Economic Growth and GDP Data
According to the first estimate for the second quarter of 2026, the Gross Domestic Product increased by 2.3 percent year-on-year as a chained volume index. With this result, which remained slightly below expectations, the total GDP estimate materialized at the level of 19.8 trillion liras.
Balanced Growth Assessment by Cevdet Yılmaz
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz stated that the resilient performance in the first quarter continued in the second quarter. Yılmaz emphasized that the economy is progressing on a balanced path compatible with the macroeconomic stabilization program.
Yılmaz also noted that the Gross Domestic Product, which was 1.6 trillion dollars in 2025, reached 1.71 trillion dollars in the second quarter of 2026 and recorded a steady increase compared to the first quarter of the year.
Sectoral Analyses by Mehmet Şimşek
Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek drew attention to the fact that growth continued despite challenging global conditions and geopolitical tensions. He reported that industrial value added increased by 2.4 percent annually with the support of technology-intensive sectors, while the agricultural sector exhibited a strong growth of 13.3 percent.
Stating that private consumption grew by 3.5 percent and investments by 0.6 percent, Şimşek noted that net external demand also made a positive contribution to growth and that domestic and external demand formed a balanced structure in the second quarter.
