Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated that Turkey aims to become a self-sufficient country in oil and natural gas, announcing that the new floating production platform within the scope of the third phase will be brought to Turkey at the end of 2027 and commissioned in 2028.

Investment and Production Targets

Turkish Petroleum is planned to reach a daily oil and natural gas production capacity of 1 million barrels. The ultimate goal was announced as the country becoming self-sufficient through both domestic production and foreign operations.

Osman Gazi Platform

The Osman Gazi Floating Production Platform, which will be sent off to its duty in the Black Sea at the end of October, houses 21 separate facilities within it. Seventy percent of these facilities were manufactured by industrial organizations in Turkey.

While approximately 7,000 people took part in the works carried out on the platform, 30 kilometers of piping and 642 kilometers of cabling were completed. This platform is expected to continue uninterrupted production at the same location for 20 years.

Reverse Brain Drain

The localization rate of human resources in the energy sector has risen above 70 percent. Thanks to large-scale energy operations in Turkey, the return of expert personnel working abroad to the country has been secured.

Third Phase Works

The manufacturing process of the new floating production platform, which will be commissioned in the third phase of production, is ongoing. The unnamed platform is targeted to be brought to Turkey at the end of 2027 and taken into active production in 2028.
