TURKSTAT 2025 foreign trade statistics announced
According to 2025 data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute, large-scale enterprises undertook a major share of exports and imports.
According to the results of the 2025 Foreign Trade Statistics by Enterprise Characteristics published by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT), large-scale enterprises accounted for 46.1% of total exports and 59.4% of total imports.
Shares by Enterprise Scale
In 2025, 166,459 enterprises performed exports, while 323,769 enterprises performed imports.
While the share of large-scale enterprises in exports was 46.1%, micro-scale enterprises took a share of 18.3%, medium-scale enterprises 18.3%, and small-scale enterprises 17.3%.
Import Distribution and Large Companies
Large-scale enterprises, which made up 1.1% of total importing enterprises, shouldered 59.4% of all imports.
The import share of micro-scale enterprises was recorded as 10.7%, small-scale enterprises as 11.9%, and medium-scale enterprises as 18.0%.
Sectoral Distribution Details
By main activity, 57.6% of exports and 45.4% of imports were carried out by enterprises operating in the manufacturing and industrial sector.
Enterprises operating in the trade sector realized 37.7% of total exports and 37.8% of total imports.
Scale in Industry and Trade Sectors
While large-scale enterprises stood out with a 70.3% share in industrial sector exports, SMEs dominated the trade sector.
89.0% of exports in the trade sector were carried out by small and medium-sized enterprises.
Country Groups and Export Markets
Enterprises in the industrial sector realized 49.2% of their exports to European Union (EU 27) countries.
EU 27 countries were followed by non-EU European countries with 14.3% and Near and Middle Eastern countries with 10.9%.
Share of Manufacturing Industry Products
59.5% of manufacturing industry product exports were undertaken by industrial sector enterprises and 36.3% by trade sector enterprises.
The vast majority of exports realized by the industrial sector consisted of manufacturing industry products.
Weight of Top 500 Enterprises in Trade
51.0% of total countrywide exports and 64.8% of imports were made by the top 500 largest enterprises.
The top 5 exporting enterprises accounted for 8.9% of total exports, and the top 5 importing enterprises accounted for 13.8% of imports.
Country Diversity and Concentration
While 39.0% of enterprises exported to a single country, the rate of those exporting to twenty and more countries was 3.2%.
The rate of enterprises importing from a single country was recorded as 84.6%.
