Unemployment rate drops to 7.8 percent in August
The Turkish Statistical Institute announced the labor force statistics and Services Producer Price Index data for the August period.
According to the August data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the nationwide unemployment rate decreased by 0.3 percentage points compared to the previous month, dropping to 7.8 percent.
Changes in the Unemployment Rate
The number of unemployed persons aged 15 and over across Turkey decreased by 106 thousand people in August compared to the previous month, falling to 2 million 740 thousand people.
Gender and Youth Population Rates
The unemployment rate was estimated at 6.6 percent for men and 10.1 percent for women, and dropped to 13 percent in the 15-24 age youth population.
Number of Employed Persons
Seasonally adjusted employment increased by 136 thousand people in August, reaching a total of 32 million 507 thousand people.
Services Producer Price Index
According to the Services Producer Price Index data, the index recorded an increase of 2.87 percent compared to the previous month.
Annual and Monthly Increases
While the S-PPI data showed an annual increase of 33.29 percent, there was a rise of 34.46 percent based on 12-month averages.
