US economy grew by 1.5 percent in the second quarter

According to data released by the US Department of Commerce, the country's economy recorded an annualized growth of 1.5 percent in the April-June period of 2026.

Second Quarter Growth Rate

According to the second estimate of gross domestic product data released by the US Department of Commerce, the country's economy grew at an annualized rate of 1.5 percent in the April-June period.

In the previously announced advance data, the growth rate was also projected to remain at the same level. Economic growth had stood at 2.1 percent in the first quarter.

Factors Affecting Growth

Consumer spending, investments, and increases in exports played a decisive role in the economic expansion in the second quarter.

While the decline in government spending partially limited the growth rate, the increase in imports was among the other developments of this period.

PCE Inflation Data

The rate of increase in the personal consumption expenditures price index was raised from 5.1 percent to 5.3 percent for the second quarter period.

The index in question had recorded an increase of 4.6 percent in the first quarter of the year.

Core Inflation Revision

The increase in the core personal consumption expenditures price index, which excludes food and energy items, was also updated upward.

While the core index increase was raised from 3.4 percent to 3.6 percent, this rate had stood at 4.4 percent in the first quarter.
