US President Donald Trump announced in a social media post that the last American forces have left Iraq. With this development, the military process that began in 2003 under George W. Bush has come to an end under his own leadership.
Departure from Erbil Air Base
Stating that, unlike previous periods, they departed from Erbil Air Base in an orderly fashion, Trump noted that they handed over the administration of the country to Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi.
Pentagon and CENTCOM Statement
The US Department of Defense, the Pentagon, and the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that as of September 30, the withdrawal of forces and equipment was completed and Operation Inherent Resolve has ended.
