US Job Openings Rise to 7 Million 271 Thousand in July
Department of Labor data revealed that job openings in the country increased compared to the previous month, although remaining below expectations.
According to JOLTS data released by the US Department of Labor, the number of job openings in the country increased by 89 thousand in July compared to the previous month, reaching 7 million 271 thousand.

According to the JOLTS survey conducted by the US Department of Labor, the number of job openings in the country increased by 89 thousand in July compared to the previous month. With this increase, the total number of job openings reached the level of 7 million 271 thousand.
Remained Below Market Expectations
Economic markets' expectation for July was for the number of job openings to be 7 million 330 thousand. While the announced figures remained behind expectations, the number of job openings for June was revised to 7 million 182 thousand.
Changes on a Sectoral Basis
In July, job openings increased in durable goods manufacturing, healthcare and social assistance, wholesale trade, and construction sectors. On the other hand, declines were experienced in transportation, warehousing, utilities, and professional and business services sectors.
Hiring and Separation Numbers
The number of hires in the country decreased by 278 thousand in July compared to the previous month, falling to 5 million 54 thousand. Meanwhile, the total number of separations, which includes quits, layoffs, and other separations, decreased by 265 thousand in the same period to 5 million 72 thousand.
