US President Trump Demands Rate Cut and Issues Trade Threat to Fed
US President Donald Trump called on the Federal Reserve via social media to lower interest countries, warning that otherwise he could suspend trade relations with countries running a trade deficit.
In a statement on his Truth Social account, US President Trump recalled the strong employment figures released and called on the Federal Reserve and its new chair to lower interest rates, stating that otherwise he would halt trade with countries with which the US runs a trade deficit.
Employment Figures and Rate Call
US President Donald Trump stated that the recently released employment figures far exceeded all expectations, emphasized that the country has reached a much stronger credit profile, and demanded an immediate interest rate cut from the Federal Reserve.
Low Interest and Global Competition
Arguing that a strong country must have lower interest rates and better credit strength, Trump expressed that the United States should have the lowest rate among the countries in the world.
Trade Deficit and Threat to Halt Trade
Stating that if interest rates are not lowered he will completely halt trade with countries where there is a trade deficit, Trump reminded that the US Supreme Court clearly recognized the president's absolute right on this matter in its tariff decision.
Fed Board and Emphasis on Patriotism
Arguing that the Fed Board, along with its new leader, should act wisely and show patriotism for once, Trump stated that high interest rates put the country in an unfair and disadvantageous position.
