Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan Meets with His Counterpart Bayramov in Baku

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who traveled to Azerbaijan's capital Baku for official contacts, met with his counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov to evaluate bilateral relations and regional issues.

Contacts in Baku and the Significance of the Visit

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with his counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov in Baku as part of his contacts in Azerbaijan, and the two ministers held a joint press conference.

Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized historical ties, noting that the visit coincided with the 108th anniversary of the Caucasus Islamic Army's entry into Baku.

Energy Cooperation and Economic Goals

Within the scope of energy relations between the two countries, partnerships on TANAP and the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan projects, as well as energy lines extending to Europe, were evaluated.

The talks also focused on the goal of increasing the bilateral trade volume to the 15 billion dollar level.

COP31 Support and Peace Process

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov officially announced that they will provide full support to Turkey regarding COP31.

The visit also addressed the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as steps toward Turkey-Armenia normalization.

Defense and Future Programs

During the talks, defense industry, security, and military cooperation issues were reviewed, along with preparations for the 13th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States.

As part of his visit, Hakan Fidan is expected to meet with Azerbaijan's Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov and be received by President Ilham Aliyev.
